Wild Food Ramble
Join us on a wild food forage and ramble through fantastic North Pembrokeshire countryside. We will find a whole variety of wild goodies from the sea, woods and hills, and chat as we go about what to do with them.
On Carn Ffoi hillfort, looking down towards Newport
We begin the walk at the car park on the east side of Carn Ingli, just off the Cilgwyn Road. We then meander down through the beautiful woods and fields of the Clydach Valley to arrive in Newport for a forage along the foreshore at low tide. Coffee and cake at the Parrog cafe is followed by a lovely stretch of coast path to Cwm Rhigian, where we delve a little into the world of seaweeds. Up through the woods to the slopes of Carn Ffoi, and a long shallow climb through heather moorland, up to the mystical mountain of Carn Ingli (magnificent views assured), back to the start. The whole route is about 8.5 miles long, and managed easily by anyone with moderate fitness.
There will be some wild food dishes to eat at the end of the walk, as we enjoy an afternoon picnic overlooking the beautiful wooded North Pembrokeshire countryside.
Directions
,
Cilgwyn
Only access is via the Cilgwyn Road to the north – the car park is on a no through road. Note that on the Google map below (you need to zoom it out a bit)- the car park is marked by the little green arrow, not the red balloon. and it's not a restaurant.. although if the wild food buffet is good enough, it might feel like one!
